Chadder & Co. bathroom products and accessories are designed and manufactured to the highest standards, providing a quality and style that you’ll enjoy in your home for years to come.
Some finishes are designed to and will continue to age, giving your product a lovely patina. Other finishes are designed to look new for their lifetime.
Weathered Brass and Weathered Copper are natural finishes, so the end finish and colour can not be guaranteed. Weathered Copper for instance, can end up being quite black in colour and, other times quite brown. These finishes will tarnish too. These are not faults, just part of the effect and antique look.
We’ve detailed each finish below and how best to maintain it, ensuring your products and finish are maintained in the best condition.
We are always on hand to answer questions about product care. If you have any questions about our materials, finishes or products, do not hesitate to contact us on 01342 823 243.
Nickel, Chrome and Antique Gold finishes
A good quality car polish, (insider tip – we like using Renaissance Wax Polish or Autoglym products) can be used sparingly to restore lustre.
Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemical cleaners.
Polished Metal and Unlacquered Brass
This includes brass showers and taps, metal cisterns, mirrors and basin frames.
These are natural cast metal products which are unlacquered and will age naturally over time. Autosol Metal Polish can be used to return products to their original shine, removing the effects of age and natural tarnishing if desired, which can then be sealed with a good quality wax (we like Renaissance Wax Polish or AutoGlym).
Do not use bathroom cleaning products containing acid.
Aged or Weathered, and all other metal finishes
These finishes must be treated carefully, avoiding most cleaning products. A damp cloth for spot cleaning is best.
A specialist metal cleaner (insider tip – we like Renaissance Wax Polish or Autoglym) may be used, but test discreetly before full application.
Baths
Wipe bath surfaces gently with a soft damp cloth, using a neutral liquid soap with water for daily cleaning. Rinse completely with water and dry off any residue with a soft flannel cloth.
Avoid abrasive materials such as scouring pads and avoid abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners.
Nickel and copper are plated finishes which are both softer and warmer than chrome. To ensure the interior surface remains smooth and resistant to dirt and grease, follow our two-step process.
Clean the interior with a quality washing-up liquid.
Maintaining the interior of your bath in this way will create a waxy protection for the surface making it resistant to dirt. If in doubt, treat the bath surface like the paintwork of your car, do not use abrasive or acidic cleaners. Even if your bathroom cleaner says it’s suitable for bath surfaces, check if it contains acids before use.
Unlacquered Copper-Plated interiors and exteriors
Please note that these are natural finishes that will age over time, and develop an antique texture and patina. As above, never use acidic or abrasive cleaners on these surfaces.
